Apply now for outdoor dining and live entertainment

Friday 29 October 2021

Inner West hospitality businesses can apply now to use public spaces for outdoor dining – and for a small grant to help cover the costs of outdoor live entertainment.

The applications and small grants are part of Inner West Council’s COVID-recovery outdoor dining and live performance initiative.

Restaurants, cafes, bars, pubs, small bars, breweries, and other food and drink businesses will benefit from the new interim outdoor dining guidelines which includes footpaths and temporarily within kerbside parking spaces.

“Last month, Council voted unanimously to expedite guidelines for safe use of public spaces by local restaurants, cafes, bars and licensed premises,” said Inner West Mayor Rochelle Porteous.

“We want our local hospitality businesses to be able to use public spaces to increase outdoor dining, activities and events across the Inner West.

“The guidelines and live performance small grants will encourage patrons to go out and kick-start the Inner West economy and hospitality industry after a horror couple of years,” Mayor Porteous said.

The live entertainment small grants are for a one-off contribution of $500 to host an activity or $2,000 for joint applications over multiple nights.

Suggested activities could include performance-based (music, poetry, theatre), a workshop, cooking demonstration, a talk, an interactive experience or anything in between. Conditions apply.

Submissions for the small grants close midnight Tuesday 9 November.
