Inner West Libraries Book Week winners presentation

Tuesday 26 October 2021

Inner West Mayor Rochelle Porteous will announce the winners of Inner West Libraries Book Week at a special online presentation on Thursday 28 October, from 5.30pm.

Media are invited to attend.

The competition, which is in its 10th year, is a key school engagement program for the libraries.

The 2021 competition attracted over 1,500 entries from 53 schools located in and around the Inner West.

School students from across the local government area were encouraged to submit either a drawing (ages 5-7) or a short story (ages 8-12s) based on the Book Week theme, Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds.

One hundred and forty competition winners and their families will attend the online event.

Special guest presenters are illustrator Mick Elliot and children’s author Lisa Siberry.

Mick is author and illustrator of several books for children including the Squidge Dibley series.

He is also a TV producer and screenwriter and has worked at Nickelodeon Australia, producing programs Slimefest and Camp Orange.

As well as being a children’s author, Lisa has spent many years working at the ABC as a digital producer.

Her debut middle-grade novel, The Brilliant Ideas of Lily Green, won the Ampersand Prize, the premier award for debut authors in Australia and New Zealand. Lisa’s new middle-grade mystery series Plum & Woo was recently released.
