About the roles

Learn to swim instructor

Learn to swim instructors deliver quality swim lessons in a safe, fun and effective manner, following the organised lesson plans. Inner West Aquatics provide swimming lessons for all ages and abilities, including babies, children, adults, and people with additional needs.

Becoming a learn to swim instructor is a fulfilling and rewarding career, providing an essential service to the community by ensuring children gain water literacy, and building water confidence to allow families to enjoy the variety of aquatic leisure opportunities in Australia.

We have vacancies across all Inner West Council Aquatic Centres offering a varying 7 day program, with morning and afternoon classes.

Pool Lifeguard

Pool Lifeguards are an essential part of our team who ensure that pool users are safe at all times by patrolling designated pool areas in accordance with the Operations Supervisor’s instructions, and ensuring pool users follow Aquatic Centre rules and safety requirements. Lifeguarding is a rewarding job with flexible hours, and provides opportunities to learn lifelong skills. Lifeguards interact with a wide variety of people on a daily basis, providing opportunities to build communication and interpersonal skills. You'll also be trained to respond to emergency situations by making quick decisions and staying calm under pressure, skills which are transferrable to any career you might be looking to pursue in the future.

Lifeguarding is a great position to kick start a career in aquatics. Experience in a lifeguard position can help you gain the skills required to become a supervisor, then a duty manager, and eventually even a centre manager. At Inner West Aquatics we support our staff with training and development opportunities to help you achieve whatever your career goals might be.
