Puppy scam alert

Australians seeking a puppy to keep them company during COVID-19 isolation have so far been scammed out of more than $300,000, the ACCC has warned.

Prospective pet owners can use the 'Buyer Search' function on the NSW Pet Registry website to verify important information before purchasing a cat or dog.

Access the Buyer Search here. Users can search a microchip number, breeder ID number or Rehoming Organisation Number to verify an animal's breed, age, gender and desexed status.
