Lunar New Year in the Inner West

Celebrate the Lunar New Year, Year of the Metal Ox, in the Inner West.

Everyone’s invited to a Lunar New Year celebration at Ashfield Town Hall, Saturday 27 February from 11am, featuring Asian and Aboriginal cultural performances.

The event is funded by NSW government and co-hosted by Inner West Council, Inner West Asian Business Association and Australian Federation of Chinese Organizations.

Places are strictly limited, and masks are encouraged for the duration of the event.

Kerry Choy from the Chinese Australian Historical Society will discuss the challenges and practicalities of researching Chinese Australian ancestry.

Film: Lucky Grandma

'Lucky Grandma' (Rating M) is set in New York City's Chinatown. An ornery, chain-smoking Chinese grandma goes all in at the casino, landing herself on the wrong side of luck - and in the middle of a gang war.

A live performance of the ancient Chinese instrument the Da Ruan, one of the range of stringed instruments available for loan from Council’s Music Library.
