22-23 - Footpath Renewal & Upgrade Program

Project description

Council undertakes an annual program to renew and upgrade existing footpaths across the Local Government Area to maintain footpath condition, improve safety and accessibility and provide for street trees and green verges.

Typical works involves removal of existing paths and replacement with new concrete, asphalt or heritage pavers to match existing materials

Footpath upgrades undertaken in selected locations include:

  • new footpaths
  • footpath retaining wall works
  • enlargement of tree pits and additional street trees
  • replacement of full width concrete footpaths with partial turf or planted verges where footpath are sufficiently wide
  • accessible kerb ramps and bus stop tactile indicators.

Budget

  • Footpath renewal - $4 million
  • Footpath upgrade - $520,000

These programs are funded by Inner West Council and the NSW Government Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.
