Public art makes a valuable contribution to an enlivened and vibrant locality, by complementing and building on the unique qualities of our streetscapes and town centres.

Beatrice Gallery
Prominent local figure Beatrice Bush is described by the Powerhouse Museum as a “local White Bay celebrity.” She sold newspapers for 25 years, seven days a week from the traffic island at the intersection of Victoria Road and The Crescent, White Bay, Sydney. She was a dedicated hardworking woman, and for many locals she symbolised old-style, working-class Balmain, where struggle and hardship were offset by village life.
