Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre Upgrade

• Project address:  Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre, Mary Street, Leichhardt

• Project description:

  • Stage 1 works including new water jet play area, BBQ zone, modification of existing mushroom pool and improving heating, ventilation, and air conditioning plant to increase power to the hydro, mushroom, and program pools. This work will allow the gym/hydro/mushroom and program pools to remain in operation while construction works are in progress for new 50m and 25m pools.
  • Stage 2 of the masterplan works include new 50m and 25m outdoor heated pools (including associated plants), new canopy structures, outdoor seating and new first aid, storage, and lifeguard rooms.

  Planned Stage 1 works include:

  • Mushroom pool modification works
  • New Water Jet Play area, outdoor seating, and BBQ zone
  • Independent hot water plant for the program, hydro and mushroom pools
  • Improvements to heating and cooling to the gym, hydro, and program pools
  • Building compliance works
  • Upgrade electrical supply
  • Initial design works and planning approval
  • Full cost plan
     
• Progress: Stage 1 draft concept completed and community engagement is in progress till 31 Jan 2024.

Master plan updates

Inner West Council resolved at the Council meeting held on 14 June 2022 to update the master plan to resolve the depth of the new 25m pool.

Council resolved to endorse the depth of the proposed 25 metre Outdoor Program Pool at Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre to be 2.1 metres with a movable floor.

The revised LPAC master plan was endorsed by Council on 11 September 2020 following a community engagement process. This document is available for download below:
