Grey exists as a periphery. It covers everything between and outside of binaries. Acting on the edges and offering up unproven knowledge. A place to explore and exist.
“Soot: The grey zone” platforms the works of artists Olivia Arnold, Lucinda Bird, Zara Collins, Rosie Thomas, Scott Woodbridge and Bella La Spina as they utilise grey to explore the transient, unproven and indeterminate. The artists question binaries, truth and preferred forms of knowledge through perspectives of photo theory, gender, language, and phenomenology. Processes of trace, light and transfer, as well as concepts of gesture, memory and material relations can be understood through the liminality of ‘grey.’
