Applying for a permit – before you begin
Flood Certificate are produced via Section 733 of the Local Government Act 1993.Please note that Flood Certificates are not currently available for all properties. If your
suburb / catchment is not listed below, a flood certificate is not currently available from Council.
- Alexandra Canal: St Peters (south of Princes Highway), Tempe
- Eastern Channel East: Enmore (south of Enmore Road), Newtown (south of Enmore Road), St Peters
- Foreshore: Balmain, Birchgrove, Lilyfield, Rozelle
- Hawthorne Canal: Dulwich Hill, Leichhardt (west of Norton Street), Lewisham, Petersham (north of New Canterbury Road), Summer Hill
- Johnstons Creek: Annandale (east of Johnston Street), Camperdown, Enmore (north of Enmore Road), Newtown (north of Enmore Road), Stanmore (east of Percival Road)
- Marrickville Valley: Marrickville, Sydenham
- Whites Creek: Annandale (west of Johnston Street), Leichhardt (east of Norton Street), Lilyfield, Stanmore (west of Percival Road)

You will need to sign the applicant's declaration on the application form to accept the terms and conditions listed on the form.
The information provided in the Flood Certificate is provided in good faith and in accordance with the provisions of Section 733 of the Local
Government Act 1993.
- The certificate will provide flooding information for the area in the vicinity of the above property. This information can be used to assist in
understanding the extent of flooding affecting the property and can be used to assist in preparation of a Flood Risk Management Report in
accordance with Section E – Water of Leichhardt Development Control Plan (DCP2013). It is recommended that the information in the certificate
be interpreted by a suitably qualified professional.
- The certificate will include two pages; a cover page with an explanation of the information provided, and the second page will be a figure
providing information on the flooding behaviour in the area. The figure includes peak water levels, depths and flow rates for the 100-year ARI
and peak water levels for the Probable Maximum Flood event.
- The flood levels provided are based on available information including numerical modelling results from studies undertaken on behalf of
Council

How to apply for your permit
Once you've completed the application form and collected all mandatory supporting documents, you use our online self-service website to lodge the application.
Step 1:
Register for an account on the Councils Self Service Portal - verification should occur within one business day.

Step 2:
Log into your account and apply for your permit following the below steps.
- Select the "Enquiries" tab
- Select the "Certificate" option and press the start" button
- Select "Flood Certificate" and start your application.
Go to online self-service
