With passionate teachers and a nurturing approach, the school helps singers of all levels build confidence, technique and self-expression. Birchgrove Primary Rock Band

Birchgrove Public School has a thriving music program and two Rockbands - Senior and Junior.  These two bands provide an opportunity for students to grow and develop their love of music and play a variety of songs.  

Honeybrook Dance School

Honeybrook Dance School, established by two sisters, Elaine and Shirley Honeybrook, has been operating in the Balmain area for over 80 years. It is a family run school that is now mentored with love by Leanne Donaldson.

Banned are a five-piece rock outfit of Year 10 music students blending diverse influences into a fresh, high-energy sound. With sharp riffs, tight grooves and cheeky lyrics, they bring precision, personality and a contagious sense of fun to every show. From Sydney’s streets to festival stages—and even immortalised on Balmain’s community mural—Banned prove that youthful swagger and serious musicianship make an electrifying combination.

Sydney Secondary College

The Sydney Secondary College Instrumental Music Program (SSC IMP) combines students across each of the three Sydney Secondary College Campuses of Leichhardt, Balmain, and Blackwattle Bay. The program consists of four wind bands, three jazz bands and a string orchestra, with many students participating across multiple ensembles. Kaunta

Hailing from Sydney, Kaunta is a four-piece band that consistently serves up punchy energy. Kaunta features Noah (guitar/vocals), Sam (bass/vocals), Ethan (guitar), and Checo (drums). In the genre of Indie Rock, Kaunta always has something for everyone, ensuring the energy stays high and the enjoyment even higher!

Spectra Jazz Orchestra

Spectra Jazz Orchestra (formerly The Young Women’s Jazz Orchestra) is a powerhouse big band of young women and gender diverse musicians aged 15–23. Bursting with talent and creativity, they light up stages from Foundry 616 to the Sydney International Women’s Jazz Festival. Spectra champions Australian compositions, improvisation and collaboration—empowering the next generation of jazz artists to play bold, swing hard and shine bright.

Son Patacore

Son Patacore is a collective of professional Colombian musicians bringing the vibrant sounds of the Pacific coast of Colombia to Australia. Blending traditional rhythms such as currulao and bunde with salsa and other Latin American styles, the group creates a unique musical bridge between Colombia, Sydney, and the Pacific Ocean that connects them.
