Hannaford Community Centre

Hannaford Community Centre is one of our community venues that offers community programs and venues for hire.  The building, on the corner of Darling Street and Nelson Street, was purchased by Leichhardt Council in 1975 from the late Mr Harrie Hannaford and transformed into a seniors and community centre. Since then, thousands of seniors have enjoyed the weekly classes, groups, bus trips, support and friendship that the Hannaford Centre offers.

Janet Statham completed her Yoga Teacher Training with IYTA (International Yoga Teachers Association) in 2003.  Since then she has been taking a small number of yoga classes for seniors.  She believes that yoga has great physical and mental benefits for everyone.  It helps us to move with more ease and have a calm and positive outlook on life in general. She loves taking the classes, and enjoys getting to know her students and finding ways to modify yoga to meet their needs. She has been lucky enough to take yoga classes at the Hannaford Centre since 2005.

Keri has been practicing Yoga for over 20 years now. Keri’s teaching style is Hatha Yoga, modified for older 'stiff bodies'. She uses Naturopathic knowledge of chronic disease and designs classes based on 'body systems' - back health, digestive health, the nervous system support, respiratory health and immune support.  She also works with isolating body areas - neck & shoulders, hips, spine.  All classes are 'themed' with a specific 'intention' or focus.
