The Haberfield Centre and Library is a newly refurbished library and community rooms in the historic garden suburb of Haberfield. It boasts a lovely outdoor courtyard and tranquil spaces to enjoy.

About our new library
Collection news
Using customer borrowing data, the library’s collection has been refreshed for Haberfield's community interests. Highlights include expansion of the DVD collection, a new bilingual picture book collection in Italian and English, more Italian fiction and a new toy collection complete with robots.
Increased functionality and accessibility
The entire building is now completely accessible through the addition of ramps and a lift.
The addition of a community room has created an enclosed garden ideal for family time.
There are now more work and study spaces and WIFI is available throughout the venue, including the covered veranda and garden.
There are two multi-use community rooms (for 40 and 60 seated visitors). Each room has access to a kitchenette and A/V technology.
Two new meeting rooms for up to eight people can be booked online for group assignments, study or meetings.
Technology
There are six public computers. Scanning and printing facilities are available.
Energy efficiency
The building has improved energy and water saving measures; new roof top solar panels; energy efficient air-conditioning and lighting systems; and rainwater re-use and water saving fixtures.
Heritage features
In consultation with conservation experts the upgrades are considerate to the area and buildings that line the nearby streets.
The original entrance to the historic Haberfield School of Arts has been reinstated and there is restorative treatment within the historic portion of the building such as timber flooring, plastered walls and ceilings, plaster decoration and other original/early fabric.
The WW1 Haberfield Roll of Honour has been carefully restored by an accredited conservationist and reinstated within the Library.
The project has been funded by a combination of the Sydney Motorway Corporation, a NSW Government Stronger Communities Grant, a special rate variation from former Ashfield Council, State Library of NSW funding and Council funds.
