Permit/Plug/Play Pilot Program

Streets ready-made for events

We're making it easier for community groups and organisations to run events that bring our local streets to life.

As part of a new NSW Government program, three Inner West streets have received pre-approval to hold up to six community events (six per site) or creative activations each year on a Sunday.

This means simpler approvals, ready-to-use event resources and hands-on support for both new and experienced organisers.

What’s included

  • Streamlined event approvals
  • Pre-approved event management plans
  • Pre-approved traffic management plans
  • On-site power supply availability
  • Opportunity to hire hostile vehicle barriers from Council

Pre‑approved streets

  • Hercules Street, Ashfield
  • Illawarra Lane and Calvert Street Carpark, Marrickville
  • Railway Parade (lower), Marrickville (coming soon following the opening of Sydney Metro's Sydenham to Bankstown extension)

This initiative is part of the NSW Government’s Permit/Plug/Play Pilot Program, which aims to create safe and vibrant spaces for local events and activities.
