Children's Services Works Program

Program description: 
Council’s Children’s Services operates childcare centres across the LGA. Council also manages properties run by private childcare providers. This program involves works to provide quality childcare and early learning environments for the community, keep facilities in good condition and meet safety and compliance requirements.

Current projects 

KU Kindergarten Petersham

Description:  Structural rectification and flood mitigation works.
Budget: $563,000
Expected completion date: December 2026

Progress:

  • Flood mitigation measures finalised.
  • REF documentation submitted.
  • Detailed design completed.
  • Contractor procurement finalised first quarter 2026.
  • Works expected to commence second quarter 2026.

Sustainability projects 

Council is undertaking energy efficiency projects such as solar power installation and LED lighting upgrades at a range of childcare and community buildings. These works are helping to implement Inner West Council strategies for Climate and Renewables and Pathway to a Carbon Neutral Council.  Read more here
