Third time unlucky for Tempe residents

Friday, 28 June 2019

Inner West Council is disappointed that the Sydney Eastern City Planning Panel has approved the Tempe Bunnings development application in its present form.

This was Bunning’s third attempt to gain approval for the contentious development.

Council has twice recommended refusal, based mainly on unacceptable traffic impacts.

Council is particularly concerned that, in approving the development on Thursday, the Sydney Eastern City Planning Panel removed Council’s Deferred Commencement Consent which would have required the applicant to develop a Local Area Traffic Management Plan (LATMP) before undertaking any preparatory work.

Some aspects of the preparatory work for the development can now proceed before the development of the LATMP.
