Public forum during COVID-19 

***Update 30 June 2021***

Under the NSW Government’s ‘Stay at home’ public health order issued on 26 June 2021, attending a Council meeting is not one of the permitted reasons for leaving home.  Councillors and staff will be attending the Ordinary Council meetings on 6 July 2021 by Zoom. Members of the public can also watch the livestream of the meeting. A link to the livestream is available on the following page https://www.innerwest.nsw.gov.au/about/the-council/council-meetings/council-meeting-webcasts

As the 6 July 2021 deals with remaining items from 29 June 2021 members of the public had the opportunity to speak, so therefore there will be no public forum.

Anyone who would like to speak about an Agenda Item at a Council Meeting must register by 2pm on the day of the Council Meeting via the meeting registration form below.

Only those who register using the online registration form will be able to speak. Please fill in the register to speak form at the bottom of this page including:

  • Your name (must use the same name on Zoom)
  • Contact details including email address
  • Item on the Agenda you wish to speak to
  • Whether you are for or against the recommendation in the agenda
  • for the 29 June 2021 Council meetings, you may online speak online

Only the first 3 speakers for and 3 speakers against each item will be permitted to speak.

Once you have registered, you will receive an email confirming your registration. If the item you are registering for already has the allocated amount of speakers, you will be notified via email.

 

Are there any rules for speaking at a Council or Committee Meeting?

The following rules apply when addressing a Council or Committee meeting:

  • Keep your address to the point, the time allowed for each speaker is limited to three minutes. A bell will be rung when you have 30 seconds remaining.
  • The maximum number of public speakers on each item is 3 for and 3 against. You will be contacted by Council officers if more than 3 registrations are received.
  • When addressing the meeting you must speak to the Chairperson.
  • The Chairperson may curtail public participation where the information being presented is considered repetitive or irrelevant.
  • Where items are deferred, you may be asked to speak at the following meeting.

What happens after I submit the form?

After completing the online form, you will be taken to a webpage confirming that your registration has been received. If you do not receive confirmation through our website please contact Council's Acting Governance Manager on 9392 5536 to confirm your registration.
