Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) FAQ

Helps you fix login and security code issues when using the 'Get it done online' portal.

Two-Factor Authentication adds an extra step to keep your account secure.

When you log in to the 'Get it done online' portal, you will be asked to enter a one-time security code sent to your email.

Why this change?

It helps to:

  • Protect your personal information
  • Reduce fraud and unauthorised access
  • Keep Council's online services safe

  • Enter your username and password.
  • Check your email for a 6 digit security code.
  • Enter the code into the portal.
  • You’re logged in.

Try the steps below:

1. Check your inbox

  • The email may arrive after a short delay.

2. Check your spam / junk / deleted folders

  • Your email provider may have filtered the message.

3. Search your emails

Try searching for:

  • “security code”
  • “verification”
  • “Inner West Council”
  • “TechnologyOne”

4. Refresh your mailbox

  • Some email apps don’t update automatically.

5. Request a new code

  • Click Resend Code on the login page.

6. Check your username

  • The code is sent to the email linked to your account

You can also try:

  • Checking if your mailbox is full
  • Adding Council’s email address to your safe senders list
  • Logging in again using a different browser or device

If you still cannot access your account, please contact Inner West Council Customer Service:

This can happen if:

  • The code has expired (codes expire after a short time)
  • You requested more than one code and used an older one
  • Auto‑fill is inserting the wrong code

Try this:

  • Request a new code
  • Make sure you use the most recent email

If you can’t access the email linked to your account, try the following first:

  • Reset your email password using your email provider’s website.
  • Check if your email provider has a service outage.
  • Contact your email provider for help accessing your account.
