Strata by-law for better waste management in apartment buildings

Numerous strata owners in the Inner West have taken up Council's offer of a free waste by-law template to help them improve waste management in their buildings. The by-law, developed by strata lawyer Amanda Farmer, is valued at around $3,000 and is only available to developments in the Inner West council area.

The template covers a range of issues such as littering, illegal dumping, bin maintenance and recycling contamination. It is available free of charge to all properties within the Inner West.

Once you have received your by-law template, your strata committee will need to adopt the by-law by special resolution at a General Meeting, and register it with NSW Land Registry Services.
