Cadigal Reserve GreenWay Public Art EOI

Introduction and Background

The GreenWay is an environmental and active travel corridor linking the Cooks River at Earlwood with the Parramatta River at Iron Cove. Construction has recently commenced on this landmark transformation of the Inner West.

The GreenWay Public Art program will curate new public artworks that transform this urban green corridor into a place that inspires visitors and residents to encounter cultural heritage and contemporary life, express deeper connection to place, engage with local stories, diverse communities, and natural ecosystems.

This commission at Cadigal Reserve is for an identified Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander public artwork. It is funded by the Department of Planning and Environment under the Parramatta Road Urban Amenity Improvement Program Public Art Framework. It is strongly advised applicants read the framework and incorporate it’s principles before submitting an EOI.

Cadigal Reserve Nature Play

On the GreenWay at Cadigal Reserve, Council are constructing a brand new nature play site for children and families, on the site of an existing dog park. Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander artists who reside in NSW are invited to submit applications for a public artwork within or around this nature play area. The artwork should be interactive, responsive to the site, tactile and accessible. Any interpretation of the site is welcome, however the work should be site specific and respond to the environment and place in a compelling manner.
