Artists biography
Jeff McCann is an artist, educator, artistic director and foremost a story-teller, working between the visual and performing arts through a wide range of mediums including sculpture, fashion, installation, public art and performance. His practice celebrates inclusivity and queer identity through playful illustrative themes and wearable garments made from repurposed materials.
Jeff's work Fruit Party will be on display at the Newtown ArtSeat from Wednesday, 5 February until Wednesday, 11 March. Fruit Party. Digital illustration, 2019. This work is a celebration of my queer identity. Embracing the colloquial term “fruity” and splattering it all over the ArtSeat. Creating a feast for the eyes. I want to create inclusive work that makes people happy and feel welcomed.

Current work and inspiration
Inspiration can range from textiles design, childhood drawings, architecxture, street art and nature. It just depends on my mood. It's more about creating a feeling or mood. I want people to smile when they see my work. I want them to engage, touch, try on, feel etc. I want my work to be more than just passive images that people look at.
