Pay by Plate (PbP) Parking Meters
Parking meters are an important tool to enable Council to manage parking demand and optimise turnover in areas where demand is high, primarily in and around major commercial centres. Where parking meters are in streets covered by PPSs, permit holders are exempt from meter charges. Council will continue to ensure parking meter charges are modest and are generally matched to parking demand. Whilst the predominant purpose of parking meters is to manage parking, meter revenue could also used to fund streetscape improvements and other works that benefit the community.
We have installed solar-powered, one-stop parking meters to benefit you and the environment. Watch the video below to find out more.
Some benefits of PbP meters
- It’s paperless – digital receipts can be sent to you
- There’s no need to return to your vehicle to display your ticket
- It integrates with the NSW Government’s Park’nPay app, with both meters and the App recording payment to the vehicle registration number

Search ‘Park’nPay’ in the App Store or Google Play.

Duplicate credit card transactions
Occasionally failed transactions with a parking meter will appear on your bank statement as a "pending" transaction (or similar) until the bank can confirm the transaction failed.
This looks like a duplicate transaction next to the successful transaction on your bank statement.
Once the bank has receives confirmation, the money will be released. This can take up to 5 working days.
