Litter boom data

Council is not the only organisation reducing water pollution. Sydney Water maintains litter booms which trap litter that has entered the river:

• two located along the Parramatta River
  Dobroyd Canal and
  Hawthorne Canal
• two others along the Cooks River
  in Boat Harbour, Hurlstone Park and
  Fifth Avenue in Campsie.

Litter doesn't only enter waterways via stormwater pipes, it can also be washed in from any land near a river. This is why litter booms help. Secondly, councils do not install a GPT on every stormwater outlet because this would be extremely expensive.

Keeping litter off our streets is the first and best step to make our rivers clean.
