Solar assessments for business
Council is pleased to provide free solar advisory and support services to qualifying businesses across the Inner West.
Council’s Go Solar for Business program supports the increased uptake of rooftop solar for the commercial and industrial sectors to reduce both electricity costs and carbon emissions.
With the Australian Tax Office's extension of the temporary Instant Asset Write Off provisions for assets installed prior to June 2023, the timing is right for commercial rooftop solar installations, which qualify as depreciating assets under the scheme. Find out more about the range of general business measures that will directly support companies to invest in solar energy assets.

What’s on offer?
Stage 1: Simple solar assessment
Independent energy partner Beam Energy Labs will liaise with qualifying Inner West businesses to deliver a customised solar feasibility overview report.
Energy Labs will request you to provide them a copy of a recent energy bill, and source your site energy data. This information will be used to develop an initial solar system and battery viability report, including various sizing options and detailing expected project paybacks. Outright purchase or on-site Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) will be presented as financing options.
Stage 2: Detailed solar assessment
Where a business would like further accurate investment information, they are able to progress to a more detailed solar feasibility assessment, which includes a more accurate solar system sizing, and background load profile and solar production information.
To support you to navigate your organisation’s investment process, a brief business case report will provide you with various tools to support your decision to invest in a solar array at your premise. Following commitment from your organisation to invest, businesses may wish to further engage with Beam Energy Labs to request offers from pre-qualified solar installers via an online reverse auction.
