Dance programs for seniors

Programs may have changed due to COVID-19. Please call using the details below unless otherwise indicated.

Creative caring

Dance based person-centred care. Creative Caring brings dance programs to seniors in many formats; through socially engaged practice in a community setting, aged care homes and for seniors in residential living. Each of these programs are specifically tailored to the age and movement capacity of the people involved. Founder Dianne Busuttil has over 20 years of experience working with seniors as a trainer, facilitator, and movement consultant.

Spring for Seniors is a Creative Caring program run at Sydney Opera House. This Dance Theatre class is designed for those new to dance and  movement, wanting to explore creative expression, build strength and  mobility, improve balance, and increase short-term memory and  musicality, as well as meet new friends in the beautiful surroundings of  Sydney Opera House. Dance for Parkinson's

Specialized dance classes accompanied by live music for people with Parkinson’s, their caregivers, family members and friends.  Professional teaching artists integrate movement from modern, ballet, tap, folk and social dancing, and choreographic repertory to engage participants’ minds and bodies and create an enjoyable, social environment for artistic exploration. Because Dance for PD focuses on the aesthetic movement of dance rather than acting as therapy,  participants in class are encouraged to approach movement like dancers rather than as patients. Dance for PD classes provide a social environment for participants to interact with other community members, and to share a positive, stimulating activity together with their partners. Participants report that the classes boost their confidence levels, transform their attitudes about living with a chronic illness, and help them manage some of the symptoms associated with Parkinson’s disease.

  • Where: Hannaford Community Centre, Rozelle
  • When: Thursdays 12-1pm
  • Contact: Cathie Goss - 0414 067 045 or via email
