Home safety

We are working to create a safer community for you and your family.  This includes the delivery of safety initiatives and projects with the purpose of reducing and preventing unwanted behaviours.

In 2019, Council will be delivering a number of Safety Forums where you can hear about these initiatives and projects and have your say regarding safety concerns.

Contact Community Project Officer, Matthew Balane for further information matthew.balane@innerwest.nsw.gov.au.

Home Security Kit

While most of us will never experience a break and enter on our home, we believe that by planning and implementing targeted strategies, you can reduce the chance of this happening to your home.  We've created a Home Security Kit to strengthen and equip you with valuable tools to reduce the risks to your family and property.

The kit was funded and supported by the Department of Justice and is also available in hard copy or on a USB key.

Visit Council's Customer Service Centres in Petersham, Ashfield or Leichhardt to obtain your copy.  Alternatively, the kit can be downloaded below.

Inside the kit you will find:

  • Home Security Checklist
  • Home Security Guide
  • Property Identification fact sheet
