Inner West Mardi Gras Parade Screening returns for second year

1 March 2024

Following last year’s inaugural event the Inner West Council is again hosting a screening of Mardi Gras parade live on the big screen at Camperdown Memorial Rest Park in Newtown.

After an incredible turn-out last year, the massive screen will be up and ready to live-broadcast all the excitement, thrills, fun and glitter of the Mardi Gras, for families who want to stay closer to home.

At the commencement of this event, a one-minute silence will be held to honour Luke Davies and Jesse Baird.

Inner West Mayor Darcy Byrne said the community had embraced the live screening and a bumper crowd is expected.

“The Inner West is the beating heart and soul of the LGBTIQ+ community in Sydney and we are expecting thousands of families to come and enjoy the screening in their own backyard.

“For families who can’t make it to the parade or who want to celebrate Mardi Gras locally or low-key our live screening is the place to be.”

Join the fun as Camperdown Memorial Rest Park comes to life as the family-friendly venue for Mardi Gras. Bring the kids. FAMBO, who run LGBTIQ+ creative and family friendly programs will be there to get arty and crafty with the little ones from 5pm. Dogs are also welcome on-leash.

This event is picnic-style so bring a rug or low chair to enjoy the live screening. Paved paths run throughout the park for easy access and accessible toilets are available.

Food will be available from Raza Central and Chillato Gelato.

The Mardi Gras parade live screening starts from 6pm. Come and feel the love!
