Australia’s new Minister for Indigenous Australians, The Hon. Linda Burney MP, will address a packed Uluru Statement From The Heart Summit at Marrickville Town Hall this Thursday at 6.30PM
She will be joined on stage by Dean Parkin, Campaign Director for The From the Heart Campaign, Cheree Toka, who has led the campaign to fly the Aboriginal Flag over the Harbour Bridge and Inner West Mayor Darcy Byrne who is the host of the forum.
The forum has attracted huge interest and hundreds of tickets were snapped up within hours of being released. To accommodate the number of people who want to be involved, a live stream of the event has been organised online and on a big screen at the nearby Marrickville Library.
At the forum, participants can find out how they can get involved in the upcoming referendum campaign, to enshrine a Voice to Parliament for First Nations people into the Australian Constitution.
Linda Burney said, “The Uluru Statement is an incredibly generous invitation to the Australian people to walk together with First Nations people and the journey begins in Marrickville with a packed out Town Hall on Thursday night.”
Inner West Mayor Darcy Byrne said, “With the election of the Albanese Labor Government we now have an historic opportunity to deliver the Uluru Statement in full.
“The Inner West community has an obligation to help build the yes campaign in the upcoming referendum.
“It's time for Voice, Treaty and Truth.”
