Inner West Fest to replace large scale festivals and events

Tuesday 3 November 2020

Inner West Council is inviting the community to submit ideas and proposals on new ways of delivering events and activations in 2021 through the $400,000 Inner West Fest.

Local artists, small business owners, residents and community leaders are invited to present ideas and concepts to replace Council’s large-scale street festivals which continue to be curtailed by the pandemic.

Successful applicants will be assigned an experienced event producer to assist and ensure their events and activations are safely enjoyed by all.

“With large-scale gatherings off our social calendars for the foreseeable future, we are turning to our community for ideas,” said Inner West Mayor Darcy Byrne.

“Our annual calendar of events has been smashed by the pandemic but we still need to find ways to still bring everyone together safely and celebrate what makes the Inner West so great.

“We have redirected $400,000 of our event funding to Inner West Fest so that the community’s ideas about how to bring people together will be well resourced with money and expertise,” Mayor Byrne said.

Inner West Fest 2021 will run in two stages, with Baludarri (Balmain) and Gulgadya (Leichhardt) Ward Festivals now open for ‘Inner West Fest’ events, festivals and activations.

Expressions of Interest are now open and close 23 November 2020.
