Blooming Arts exhibition at Chrissie Cotter Gallery

Tuesday 24 November 2020

The next exhibition at Council’s Chrissie Cotter Gallery is the annual Blooming Arts which celebrates the work of artists with a disability, and supports their art practice.

The Blooming Arts exhibition coincides with International Day of People with a Disability (3 December).

Blooming Arts is now in its thirteenth year and is being delivered by Roomies Arts who support people living with disabilities and mental health challenges to be engaged in the creative process

“It's important to show inclusivity and diversity in our community,” said project coordinator Anne Kwasner. “Blooming Arts has been running for over 10 years. Last year there was a break, but we are back in the year of COVID. We have been looking at how we can improve and keep the exhibition relevant.”

The exhibition showcases local and Sydney-based artists spanning a range of mediums by emerging to established practitioners.

One of the artists to feature this year is Bridget Kelly (artwork pictured), who won the 2018 Blooming Arts ‘Emerging Artist’ Prize.

The announcement of this year’s winners will be held online on Saturday 5 December, 2.45pm (approx.) via Roomies Arts Instagram @Roomiesarts and Facebook Live www.facebook.com/roomiesarts

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the Blooming Arts exhibition will not be hosting an opening night.

Exhibition opening hours are 11am-4pm:
