Women in Business mentor program launched

Thursday, 11 July 2019

Council has launched a new initiative to encourage and assist local women in business.

The Inner West Council Women in Business mentor program will support women to launch or grow their businesses with access to workshops, and group and one-on-one mentoring.

The program was launched last night by Inner West Councillor Anna York.

“It’s great to see so many of our local business women in the Inner West putting their hands up to participate in this new initiative,” said Councillor York.

“Inner West Council has been delivering Women in Business activities for over three years now. The program has had an excellent track record in supporting, engaging, and inspiring local business women.

“The idea for this new mentor program actually came from local women business operators themselves. They told Council that - particularly in the early stages of starting a business - they needed more personalised support, advice and encouragement.

“Having access to specialist business knowledge is essential in nurturing a successful business. This mentor program is designed to help our local business women have access to knowledge and experience of what it takes to run a successful business, and to find that edge to be sustainable and to grow.”

The program combines:

• Interactive specialist business workshops
• Group mentoring
• One on one mentoring from three different Business Mentors
• a Business Accountability Partner to assist in identifying a strategic business goal and to then achieve that goal

Applications for the Mentor program are now being accepted online at www.innerwest.nsw.gov.au/WomenMentors

Applications close 26 July, 5pm.
