Familiar Flora at Chrissie Cotter Gallery

Friday, 19 July 2019

A series of still life paintings of local plants, flowers and home-grown fruits and vegetables feature next at Inner West Council’s Chrissie Cotter Gallery.

Familiar Flora is an exploration of the Inner West's urban plant-life using a variety of painting mediums.

The paintings meditate upon the role that plants play within our daily lives, capturing a current time and place and allowing for memories and narratives to develop, according to artist Imogen Eve.

“As the urban spaces, both built and natural, of the Inner West are evolving, the exploration of local urban flora, both native and introduced, is a rich and joyous topic that provides endless artistic enquiry and inspiration,” she said.
