Attend the Amy Large Volunteer of the Year awards

Inner West Council’s annual Amy Large Volunteer Award Ceremony and Volunteer Thank You Evening is on Thursday, 23 May.

Media and all residents are invited to attend.

The event celebrates all volunteers for their outstanding contributions to help local families and individuals, community organisations, the environment and other programs and projects.

“The awards honour local resident and much-loved volunteer Amy Large, who passed away in 2015,” said Inner West Mayor Darcy Byrne.

“Amy was widely known for her long years of service supporting Birchgrove Public School committees, the Birchgrove Scorpions Junior Rugby League team, the Balmain Town Hall and the Back to Balmain Day committees, the Red Cross and the Salvation Army,” he said.

“She was an outstanding person, and Council was very pleased to name our annual Volunteer of the Year awards night after her,” Mayor Byrne said.

In her lifetime Amy received many awards for volunteering, including:

• Public Service Medal for Outstanding Public Service to the Balmain Community

• Mayor's Volunteer Award

• Village Voice Citizen of Year Award

• Rotary Pride of Workmanship Award

The Amy Large Volunteer Award Ceremony and Volunteer Thank You Evening is at Ashfield Town Hall, 260 Liverpool Rd Ashfield on Thursday, 23 May, 6:30-8:30pm.

Refreshments provided.
