International Names for Inner West Skate Demo

Inner West Council, in conjunction with Project Distribution and Deluxe Distribution, are proud to announce the upcoming Real Skateboards demo, to be held at Sydenham Skate Park on Friday 26 October 2018 starting at 6pm.

Team riders (bios attached) that will be on tour for the week include:

• Zion Wright
• Chima Ferguson (Sydney local)
• Kyle Walker
• Ishod Wair

Inner West Mayor Darcy Byrne said that he was excited to be welcoming the skaters to the inner west.

“Sydenham Skate Park is a great new facility that’s generating a lot of buzz in the skating world,” he said.

“We’re very proud of it and I can’t wait to see these world class skaters doing their thing at the demo.”

The Real Skateboards demo is perfect timing with the Real team coming off Thrasher’s “King of the Road” and the Extreme Games being held the weekend prior to the demo.

Pushing skateboarding since day one, Real is 100% raw skateboarding with a rich heritage. Everyone on the team is about ripping every spot in sight and pushing the boundaries of modern skateboarding. Real gives back to skateboarding through their Actions

A young start at skating, Zion was just 4 when he first stepped on a board, skating his local neighbourhood in Florida before entering his first comp at 8.  Like most aspiring skaters, Zion made the move to California at age 16, a move rewarded with first place at the 2016 Phoenix AM followed by third place at Tampa AM.  Not limited to comp skating, Zion’s street footage is out of this world, with Real Skateboards turning him Pro after his amazing part in Thrasher Magazine’s “AM Scramble”.  Most recently his epic part titled “REAL Part”, where he does this unthinkable and Half-cab B/S Smith Grind’s the infamous Hollywood High 16 further cements his position as one of the world’s best skateboarders.

Chima was born and raised in Sydney, Australia, turning Pro in 2010 for Real Skateboards. Now splitting his time between Sydney and California, Chima has some of the most technical tricks on some of the biggest drops around the globe.  His laid back approach and effortless skating technique makes him an amazing skater to watch and a hometown favourite, with a tight crew of family and friends supporting him from Sydney.

It was after Kyle’s break out part in Van’s 2015 first ever feature length video, Propeller, that Real Skateboards welcomed the Oklahoma City local to their pro team.  Further success followed, with Kyle crowned Thrasher Skateboarder of the Year in 2016, and also winning the Street League Skateboarding Trick of the Year for his insane roller coaster 50-50 that ended his “No other Way” part in late 2016.

Ishod Wair started skating at the age of 9 years old in Bordentown, New Jersey. After his first appearance on the scene at the 2008 Tampa AM, he was sponsored by Real Skateboards and Nike SB, turning Pro in 2011 after dropping an insane part in Real’s Since Day One video.  Winning Thrasher’s Skateboarder of the Year in 2013, and a career high of second place in the Pro Open Street League competition in 2014, Ishod continues to be a crowd favourite.
