Inner West Council has been recognised as an outstanding host employer at the Apprentice Employment Network NSW & ACT awards held in Sydney on 12 October taking out a major award.

The awards reward and honour the achievements of apprentices, trainees, host employers and group training organisations.

Council general manager Rik Hart said it was a great honour for Inner West Council to be named award winner of the large host employer category.

“The award is wonderful acknowledgement of Council’s ongoing support and training of the apprentices that have passed through our doors over the years,” Mr Hart said.

Council project manager of capital projects Frank Dunne accepted the award at last week’s event.

“The award recognises that Council staff, including its supervisors and trades people, make every effort in the way we manage and provide support to apprentices often going the extra mile whilst these young people are under our care,” he said.

“We’d also like to thank 1300apprentice, one of three suppliers Council engages to supply its trade apprentices, for nominating us for the award.”

The Apprentice Employment Network NSW & ACT (AEN NSW & ACT) conducts the 2018 NSW & ACT Group Training Awards to recognise outstanding achievement in the vocational education and training sector.
