Floral Shadow at Chrissie Cotter Gallery

Wednesday 23 August 2017

Artist in residence at Council’s Whites Creek Cottage studio, Sally Mowbray, is exhibiting her solo show Floral Shadow at Chrissie Cotter Gallery in early September.

The residency suits artists who seek inspiration from nature. Sally is currently working with a variety of painting and drawing media, focusing on floral motifs from different sources.

“I've been very lucky to have been the 2017 recipient of the Waratah Room Studio at Whites Creek Cottage Lilyfield, and this has given me a great space to work in - a beautiful natural setting,” she said.

Sally - who is inspired by folk art, old world textiles, 1950s flower arranging books, Bonnard, Polke and Reddon – said, “I'm interested in bringing different visual ideas together to see how they collide or relate, and then working with that. I work on pieces simultaneously so they can affect each other and cross pollinate.”

Floral Shadow is at Chrissie Cotter Gallery, Pidcock Street Camperdown from Thursday 7 to Sunday 17 September.

  • Exhibition dates: Thursday 7 September – Sunday 17 September
  • Opening reception and drinks: Sunday 10 September, 2 – 5pm
  • Gallery hours: Thursday to Sunday, 11am – 4pm
