Celebrate 2044

Celebrate 2044 – St Peters, Sydenham and Tempe's own community fair – is in Tillman Park Tempe on Sunday 21 May, from 11am to 4pm.

Heading into its fifth year, the fair celebrates the local area with a relaxed picnic style event on the greens.

Held in partnership with the local community, businesses and schools, the event will feature entertainment, local produce and activities for the whole family.

From relatively small beginnings - 400 attended the inaugural event in 2013, Council expects between 1,000 and 3,000 locals to browse the stalls, taste the wide range of food on offer, and enjoy the free activities and music.

Entertainment this year includes Tempe High School’s Vocal Ensemble and Concert Band.

As well, Celebrate 2044 will feature The Majestic Players from the Majestic Performing Arts Academy, demonstrations from Sydney Self Defence, and ensembles from St Peters Public School and Marrickville West Public School.

The funk rock winner of the Marrickville Festival Break Competition in 2016, Apache, will perform. Eden’s March, the four piece indie rock band, will close the entertainment.

Kids will enjoy the native Australian animal show, free face painting and airbrush tattoos, jumping castle and garden games including three-legged races, sack races, tug-o-war, putt putt golf, giant lego, pipelines, giant connect 4, and giant jenga.

There will be demonstrations by NSW Fire & Rescue and Dog Logic, who will put their pooches through their paces in the Activities area.

Food choices include slow-cooked charcoal-grilled pork and chicken in a Filipino style marinade, Empanada, noodles, spicy corn fritters and salad, bacon and egg rolls, and sustainable seafood such as New Zealand mussels grilled on the half shell (in four flavours - Garlic and Parmesan, Chilli, Orange and & Coriander, and Lemon, Capers and Dill), snapper burgers, flathead and fries, and marinated grilled prawns.

There’s also plenty of espresso coffee, tea, hot chocolate, ice cream, gelato, milk shakes and cold drinks.

The event’s sponsors include Agency by Glenn Regan, Willie The Boatman, and Zen Studios. Media Partner is the Inner West Courier.
