Volunteer for Graffiti Removal Day 2016

Inner West Council will support Graffiti Removal Day on Sunday 30 October.

Residents are urged to volunteer to help clean up illegal graffiti and tagging hot spots.

Anyone over the age of 12 with the ability to clean off graffiti can volunteer to participate in Graffiti Removal Day.

This year, Council will be removing graffiti and tagging from the following addresses:

  • 20 York Crescent, Petersham
  • 65-67 Crystal Street, Petersham
  • 38 Crystal Street, Petersham
  • Canal Road, Leichhardt
  • Old Canterbury Road Bridge (Nearest to 46 Edward St), Summer Hill
Supporting Graffiti Removal Day is just one of the ways Inner West Council is tackling the problem of ‘tagging’. Council’s Perfect Match program has also been highly effective in achieving more quality street art that reduces problem tagging. And Council’s upcoming Wall2Wall has a 10 year record of reducing graffiti in high profile locations and replacing it with high quality works by skilled artists.

Graffiti Removal Day is a state-wide removal and prevention day run by Rotary Down Under with support from a wide range of community organisations including Scouts Australia, Girl Guides NSW and ACT and Australian Men’s Shed Association.

Rotary will be responsible for the organisation, management, training and insurance of all volunteers. They will appoint a trained coordinator for the Inner West local government area, and one supervisor for each clean-up site.

To volunteer, go to www.graffitiremovalday.org.au or call 1300 665 310.
