More drops offs for Inner West Council residents

Inner West Council residents will have more opportunities to safely dispose of all their unwanted chemicals and recycle all electronic waste.

Recovery of paint, gas bottles, fluorescent tubes, batteries, motor oils, household cleaners, and recycling of computers, TVs, cameras, and all other electronic waste will divert hazardous material from landfill, protecting our environment.

There are now three drop offs that residents can utilise however each accept different items.

In St Peters, the next Household Chemical and e-waste Drop Off Day will be held on Saturday 13th August 2016, from 9am-3:30pm at Council’s Works Depot (entry via Bolton Street- parallel to railway tracks) and exit via Unwins Bridge Road as a left hand turn only.

In Summer Hill, monthly e-waste only drop offs occur on the second Wednesday of every month, from 3:30pm-6:30pm at the Council’s Works Depot at 7 Prospect Road. An event is also scheduled for December.

In Leichhardt, Inner West Council residents can utilise the household problem waste drop off at the Community Recycling Centre, between 7:45am-11:30am and 1pm-3:45pm, every Saturday and Sunday at 50-54 Moore Street, Leichhardt.

Each drop off accepts different items so residents are encouraged to visit the website for more information about what is accepted.

Residents are reminded to pack their unwanted chemicals in secure containers, ideally plastic tubs and carefully transport the waste to ensure that the chemicals do not leak or spill.

If possible avoid the morning queues at the St Peters drop off and visit us after lunch.

For further information including a complete list of materials that can be dropped off, go to www.marrickville.nsw.gov.au/dropoff or call the Petersham Service Centre on 02 9392 5000.
