Get to Know the Neighbours in Nostalgic Exhibition

Get to know your long lost neighbour at the Neighbours: Past and Present exhibition at Leichhardt Library this month.

The exhibition opens on Thursday 8 September and everyone is invited to view and add their own memories.

As Leichhardt Library showcases an exhibition of historic images from its collection, they invite you to share your memories of the iconic, the ordinary, the different, the historic, the social, the quirky and all the elements that have come to pass in the Inner West.

This exhibition will explore the neighbouring suburbs of Marrickville, Leichhardt and Ashfield.

As our community and identity grows and changes, come and pin your memories to a 2D History Pin board – and get to know your neighbours and their memories.

The exhibition is part of History Week 2016, which features the theme of Neighbours.

Neighbours are crucial to our understanding of the past’s impact on the present. It includes stories of individuals, families and communities living near one another and links between adjoining suburbs, regions and countries.

The Neighbours: Past and Present exhibition officially opens on Thursday 8 September, but the exhibition runs from Thursday 1 – Friday 30 September, 9:30am-8pm.

You’ll find the Leichhardt Library in Norton Street’s Italian Forum, on the Piazza Level.

You can RSVP for the opening at https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/neighbours-past-and-present-exhibition-opening-leichhardt-library-tickets-26835699299, at localhistory@lmc.nsw.gov.au or on 9367 9266.
