Council announces the first Inner West Open Studio Trail

Inner West Council is inviting local artists to register their art spaces for the first Inner West Open Studio Trail.

Inner West Open Studio Trail will be held on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14, and Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 May 2017.

Council has been consulting with the local artistic community about the future of the former Leichhardt Open Studio Trail (LOST) and Marrickville Open Studio Trail (MOST).

Post amalgamation, LOST and MOST will be combined into one event and expanded into the Ashfield area.

Inner West Open Studio Trail will, over four days, showcase the many different precincts and venues across the inner west – one of Australia’s most vibrant arts areas.

“Once again we are seeing a popular inner west event being expanded to take in a much larger area and population,” Administrator of Inner West Council Richard Pearson said.

“This benefits everyone – the artists and art lovers, and our local economies,” he said.

“In 2016, over 50 venues participated in LOST and over 50 in MOST – bringing the new potential number of studios to 100+ for 2017 – and that’s not including the Ashfield area.

“They were much-loved events. Thousands of people attended, and over half the former Marrickville Trail venues reported sales of their artworks,” Mr Pearson said.

The two weekends will feature guided and self-guided tours, artwork for sale, talks and special events.
