Water facilities outage – Callan Park, Friday 17 March 2023
Due to a water leak affecting Waterfront Drive and the surrounding areas of Callan Park, there is currently no water supply to the irrigation, bubbler, building toilets and canteen facilities at Waterfront Drive sporting ground.
The water supply is forecast to be reinstated early next week.
New Year’s Eve alcohol-free and alcohol prohibited areas
Council is proposing to re-establish alcohol-free and alcohol prohibited areas along Balmain Foreshore for New Year’s Eve 2023-2026. These alcohol restrictions will be in place from 12.00pm (midday) 31st December to 3.00am 1st January. Please provide comments by 31 March here.
Land classification of 203 Northumberland Street Liverpool as operational land
Pursuant to section 31 of the Local Government Act 1993, Council intends to classify the land identified above as “operational land” for the purpose of the Act. The proposed Council resolution to implement this intention is:

The following roads will be closed to all vehicular traffic between 3pm and 12 midnight on Saturday 31 December 2022:

- Mansfield Street at Evans Street intersection, Rozelle (both directions)
- Hanover Street at Evans Street intersection, Rozelle (both directions)
- Mackenzie Street at Victoria Road Street intersection, Rozelle (both directions)
- Hartley Street at Victoria Road Street intersection, Rozelle (both directions)
- Joseph Street at Victoria Road Street intersection, Rozelle (both directions)
- Loughlin Street at Victoria Road Street intersection, Rozelle (both directions)

Council intends to apply for consent under the Roads Act 1993 to close, by the use of temporary barricades, Smidmore Street, between Murray Street and the Smidmore Street Car park access, Marrickville from 6am to Midnight Sunday, on the first weekend of each month throughout 2022 (contingency period to the end of 12 month trial period) for the purpose of hosting Marrickville Metro Markets.
Any person is entitled to make a written submission regarding this proposed closure via email to council@innerwest.nsw.gov.au or via post at PO Box 14 Petersham 2049, by 4 March 2022.
Interim Heritage Order – 11 Macarthur Parade, Dulwich Hill
A notice in the NSW Government Gazette was made by Inner West Council on 25 November 2022 to place an Interim Heritage Order (IHO) on 11 Macarthur Parade Dulwich Hill.
The effect of the IHO is to prohibit demolition or alteration of the property for a period of 6 months from 25 November 2022. During that time Council will act to formally list the property as an item of environmental heritage under Schedule 5 of the Inner West Local Environmental Plan 2022.
An assessment undertaken by Council’s heritage consultants concluded that the property meets the criteria for local heritage significance.

Approval of Inner West Local Infrastructure Contribution Plan 2022

Inner West Council adopted the Inner West Local Infrastructure Contribution Plan 2022 at the Council Meeting held on Tuesday, 6 December 2022. A copy of the Council’s decision is provided below:
Motion: (Drury/Lockie)
That:
- Council approves and adopts the Inner West Local Contributions Plan 2022 and the supporting infrastructure needs studies in accordance with section 7.18 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, as provided in Attachments 1, 2, 3 and 4;
- The Inner West Local Infrastructure Contributions Plan 2022 takes effect on the date published on Council’s website and repeals all existing contributions plans on the date published on Council’s website in accordance with section 215 of Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2021;
- The General Manager be given authority to make formatting and minor changes to the Inner West Local Contributions Plan 2022 in accordance with clause 215(5) of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2021; and
- Note that there are annual reviews of the works schedule in the contribution plan, and approve that the first review 2023/2024 finds a way to amend the plan so as to use development contributions to fund water quality works.

The plan was prepared under sections 7.11 and 7.12 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and was adopted along with its supporting infrastructure needs studies.
The Inner West Local Infrastructure Contribution Plan 2022 will come into effect on 20 February 2023. Any development application or complying development certificate made on or after this date will be determined in accordance with the Inner West Local Infrastructure Contribution Plan 2022.
The Inner West Local Infrastructure Contribution Plan 2022 will not apply to development applications or applications for a complying development certificate submitted before 20 February 2023. Instead, such applications will be determined against the relevant contribution plan that applied at the date of lodgement until 30 June 2023, after that time the Inner West Local Infrastructure Contribution Plan 2022 prevails.
All applications to modify a consent under section 4.55 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 will be determined against the same contribution plan that was applied to the original consent until 30 June 2023, after that time the Inner West Local Infrastructure Contribution Plan 2022 prevails.
The following local infrastructure contribution plans will be repealed on 30 June 2023:
- Ashfield Section 94 Contribution Plan (2010 – amended 2015)
- Ashfield Section 94A Contribution Plan (amended 2015)
- Leichhardt Section 94 Contribution Plan No. 1 – Open Space and Recreation (2005 – amended 2016)
- Leichhardt Section 94 Contribution Plan No. 2 – Community Facilities and Services (2005)
- Leichhardt Section 94 Contribution Plan No. 3 – Transport and Access (1999)
- Leichhardt Section 7.12 Development Contribution Plan for the former Leichhardt Area (2020)
