Celebrating International Day of People with Disability

Over the weekend we commenced two weeks of celebrations in the Inner West to mark International Day of People with Disability!

Held annually on 3 December, this important international day champions inclusion and recognises the contributions and achievements of people with disability in our community and around the world.

We invite you to join the celebrations with us:

  • Explore new audio descriptions for 20 of our Perfect Match street artworks. Narrated by Nas Campanella, this partnership with Vision Australia ensures more people can discover these iconic local landmarks across our LGA.
  • Attend our annual Inclusion Festival on 8 December at Petersham Town Hall. This fully assessable music festival showcases the immense talent of diverse artists with disability and is not to be missed!
  • Join our community Q&A with the ParaMatildas hosted by Inner West Council and the Marrickville Red Devils Football Club in Mackey Park on 14 December

Inner West Council is proud to be an inclusive employer. Our 2nd Inner West Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2023-26 was recently endorsed by Council. Outcomes of this plan include:

  • Establishment of Disability Employee Network (DEN) to support employees with disability
  • Access and Inclusion Hub providing all employees with training and best practice tools
  • Further increase existing Traineeship opportunities for people with disability
