Play Score surveys in your area

Council will deliver upgrades to three public spaces, thanks to funding from the NSW Government’s Public Spaces Legacy Program. The projects include:

  • Cahill Street Reserve (and surrounds) upgrade, Annandale
  • Lewis Herman Reserve, Ashfield
  • Bay Run Lighting Upgrade projects, Lilyfield and Rozelle

As part of this work, the company ‘Place Score’ has been contracted to undertake surveys with the community on behalf of the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment and Inner West Council to understand how people currently use Cahill Street Reserve. Surveying will be in line with strict COVID-Safe protocols.

Information collected will not specifically identify any individual and is not used for any other purposes other than this specific research.

Temporary road closure notices

Shirlow Street, Marrickville

Inner West Council intends to apply for consent under the Roads Act 1993 to  close, by the use of temporary barricades, Shirlow Street, Marrickville towards Sydenham Road, for a 48 hour period from early am Monday 15 November 2021 to late pm on Tuesday16 November 2021(contingency period 3 weeks to 7 December 2021) in order to relocate an existing power pole.

Albermarle Street, Marrickville

Inner West Council intends to apply for consent under the Roads Act 1993 to close, by the use of temporary barricades, Albermarle Street railway bridge (between Challis Avenue and Kays Avenue East), Marrickville for a 48-hour period on two consecutive days 2am Saturday 6 November to 2am Monday 8 November 2021 (contingency period period of 2 months to 11 January 2022) in order to install anti-throw screens on the rail overbridge.

David Place, Ashfield

Inner West Council intends to apply for consent under the Roads Act 1993 to close, by the use of temporary barricades, David Place, Ashfield (dead-end laneway off Murrell Street), for (2) days from 7.00am-5.00pm Wednesday 27 October to Thursday 28 October 2021 (with a contingency period up to 5 November 2021). The closure is required to lay stormwater connection to the rear of the development 193 Liverpool Road and restore the road pavement within the lane.

New Years Eve Road Closure

Council intends to apply for consent under the Roads Act 1993 to close, by the use of temporary barricades to facilitate a number of temporary road closures for New Year’s Eve celebrations on the Balmain peninsula.

The following roads will be closed to all vehicular traffic between 3pm Friday, 31st  December 2021 and 12 midnight:

  • Brent Street at Evans Street intersection, Rozelle (both directions)
  • Mansfield Street at Evans Street intersection, Rozelle (both directions)
  • Hanover Street at Evans Street intersection, Rozelle (both directions)
  • Mackenzie Street at Victoria Road Street intersection, Rozelle (both directions)
  • Hartley Street at Victoria Road Street intersection, Rozelle (both directions)
  • Joseph Street at Victoria Road Street intersection, Rozelle (both directions)
  • Loughlin Street at Victoria Road Street intersection, Rozelle (both directions)
  • Crescent Street at Robert Street intersection, Rozelle (both directions)
  • Buchanan Street at Robert Street intersection, Balmain (both directions)
  • Waragal Avenue at Terry Street intersection, Rozelle (both directions)
  • McKell Street at Yeend Street intersection, Birchgrove (both directions)

In addition, the following roads will be closed to all vehicular traffic except TSA/STA buses, taxis, hire cars and Balmain Access Permit holders and will be manned by NSW Police officers between 3pm Friday, 31st December 2021 and 12 midnight:

  • Terry Street at Wellington Street intersection, Rozelle (northbound direction)
  • Darling Street at Nelson Street intersection, Rozelle (northbound direction)
  • Darling Street at Ewenton Street intersection, Balmain (eastbound direction)
  • Evans Street at Merton Street intersection, Rozelle (northbound direction)
  • Mullens Street at Robert Street intersection, Rozelle (both directions)
  • Ballast Point Road at Lemm Street-Yeend Street intersection, Birchgrove (south and eastbound directions)
  • Robert Street at Crescent Street, Rozelle (northbound direction)
  • Grove Street at Rose Street, Birchgrove (eastbound direction)

The closures will be affected by the placement of barricades at strategic locations and notices showing the final closure date will be displayed onsite.

Norton Street, Ashfield

Inner West Council intends to apply for consent under the Roads Act 1993 to close, by the use of temporary barricades, Norton Street (between Queen Street and Holden Street) and Joseph Street( between Arthur Street and Norton Street), Summer Hill for one (1) day from 6.00am-7.00pm on Saturday 9 October 2021 (with a contingency period up to 6 November 2021 for an alternate back up day of similar times). The closure is to permit a mobile crane to erect a tower crane on the new development site of 73-75 Norton Street, Ashfield.

Alt Street, Ashfield

Inner West Council intends to apply for consent under the Roads Act 1993 to close, by the use of temporary barricades, Alt Street, south of Elizabeth Street,  Ashfield, for a 2 day weekend period on the 9 October 2021 from 6.00am through to 6.30pm on the 10 October 2021 to carry out new cable installation work within the Ashfield Substation at the end of Alt Street.

Collins Street, Annandale

Inner West Council intends to apply for consent under the Roads Act 1993 to close, by the use of temporary barricades, Collins Street, between Johnston Street and Johnston Lane, Annandale on 6 November 2021 be approved for the St Brendan’s School and Church Community Spring Fair. 

Any person is entitled to make a written submission regarding this proposed closure via email to council@innerwest.nsw.gov.au by 23 September 2021.

Moore Lane, Rozelle

Inner West Council intends to apply for consent under the Roads Act 1993 to close, by the use of temporary barricades, Moore Lane, between Parsons Street and Mansfield Street, Rozelle from 04 October 2021 to 14 October 2021 (lane to be closed 7am-5pm and to be reopened 5pm to 7am) (contingency period two weeks) to facilitate site excavation works to install Ausgrid conduits and cables.

Grosvenor Crescent, Summer Hill

Inner West Council intends to apply for consent under the Roads Act 1993 to close, by the use of temporary barricades, Grosvenor Crescent (between Carlton Crescent and Dover Street), Summer Hill  for a 48 hour period from 5.00am Saturday 9 October to 5.00am Monday 11 October 2021 (with a contingency period of 1 week)  in order to carry out essential rail overbridge works during the rail closure weekend.

College Street, Balmain

Inner West Council intends to apply for consent under the Roads Act 1993 to close, by the use of temporary barricades, College Street, between Cameron Street and Trouton Street, Balmain for fourteen (14) weeks from Tuesday 7th September to Tuesday 30th November 2021 to facilitate underground pipe works in College Street Balmain.

Inner West Council intends to apply for consent under the Roads Act 1993 to close, by use of temporary barricades, Holt Street, between Amy Street and Illawarra Road, Marrickville, on Sunday 31st of October, 2021 between 2:00pm and 7:00pm for the purpose of holding a street party.

No left turn restriction vehicles over 6 metres - Wardell Road into Riverside Crescent, Marrickville/Dulwich Hill 

Council will apply for consent (as per the Roads Act 1993), to install a ‘No Left Turn Vehicles Over 6 metres’ restriction for vehicles heading northbound in Wardell Road into Riverside Crescent, to restrict trucks from using local roads and provide safe conditions for cyclists.

Notice of approval of amendment of Leichhardt Development Control Plan 2013 - 1-5 Chester Street, Annandale

On Tuesday 9 February 2021, Council considered a report on the engagement outcomes of the proposed amendments to Leichhardt Local Environmental Plan 2013 (LLEP 2013) and Leichhardt Development Control Plan 2013 (LDCP 2013) for 1-5 Chester Street, Annandale. The purpose of LDCP 2013 amendment is to incorporate site-specific development controls to guide future development of this site in conjunction with LLEP 2013.

Council resolved to adopt the LDCP 2013 amendment subject to minor changes. This LDCP 2013 has been prepared in accordance with the provisions of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and the Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2000 and will come into effect on the date the associated LLEP 2013 amendment is published on the NSW legislation website.
