The Salons at Chrissie Cotter Gallery

Monday 11 April 2022

Council’s Chrissie Cotter Gallery will be transformed into a bohemian-style salon in a group exhibition opening soon.

The Salons “is a boutique feastival of art-after-hours” according to organiser and artist Angie Contini.

“In the bohemian spirit of the original salons, our bespoke arty ‘buffets’ are curated to bring friends and family together, and to reclaim the joy and magic of art in daily life,” she said.

“Connecting artists and community, The Salons celebrates art as empowerment, catharsis, inclusion, collaboration, inspiration, learning, action, empathy, idea, escape and possibility.

“Our bespoke program of free and ticketed events includes theatre performance, dance, synaesthesia sessions, storytelling, book launch, with workshops in poetry and meditation, hand-cut collage and singing in harmony,” Angie said.

The Salons features the work and play of Carol Archer, Renee Boissett, Daragh Byrne, Angie Contini, Anna Couani, Thea Elder,
Stephanie Di Giacomo, Geneva Gilmour, Christiaan
Hoppenbrouwers, Leura James, Sam James, Kit Kelen,
Anastasia Keros, Recycletastic, The Third Voice,
Alana Tracey and Kell Wallwork.

The opening includes performances by Tangueros de la Belle Epoque, poet/photographer Leura James and vocal group The Third Voice.

Opening Wednesday 27 April, 6pm – 8pm.
