Artist/s statement

Welcome to an exhibition celebrating a diverse range of handmade ceramics from a group of inner west residents making pottery at Kaolin Studios. Opening in November 2021, Kaolin Studios has become a thriving pottery studio where students have been learning how to make ceramics on the potter's wheel. Starting as complete beginners, many of the students have been continually enrolled since the opening of the school and their works show excellence in form and technique. Kaolin Clay Studios fires all the work to high stoneware temperatures which makes the work extremely functional as they are durable (being microwave and dishwasher safe). At a certain stage in their development the intermediate/ advanced students choose their own glazes which allows their individual voices to come through.
