Sustainable streets

Native grass and purple lavender in verge garden.

Verges, also known as nature strips, are important areas of public land that can provide many local environmental benefits and help create more liveable spaces.

The Sustainable Streets Program has provided a process of collaboration with the community to create, manage and maintain nature strip gardens and has seen more sustainable streetscapes emerge.

Currently only residents who live in the former Marrickville Council area can access this program.

The program encourages residents to take some ownership for the area adjacent to their property boundaries by working with Council to implement local environmental improvements.
