Home maintenance and modification service

The Inner West Home Maintenance and Modification Service assists people with access, safety and independence in daily living in their own home, or with a carer.

Modification and Maintenance service

Our service provides a modification, maintenance, adjustment and advice service for frail older people, younger people with disability or functional limitations and their carers.

People who own their home and tenants of public housing and privately rented housing can be assisted with work that is not their landlord's responsibility.
Services include:

  • Modification - Installing small ramps, handrails, hand-held showers and widening doorways, correcting bench heights, removing shower screens, slip – resist floor treatments etc.

  • Maintenance - Minor repairs of doors, windows, fences and gates, carpentry repairs, changing light globes and single storey gutter cleans etc.

  • Adjustment - Securing rugs, cords, door catchers, curtain rails, modifying furniture, etc.

  • Advice - We provide advice on your home maintenance and modification matters, and can also refer you to other agencies if you need extra assistance for plumbing, electrical and smoke alarm requests if you are eligible.

This service is available to eligible residents of the Inner West region.
