A terrific line-up of award-winning jazz musicians will take the stage in Gladstone Park as Jazz in the Park makes a huge return to Balmain.

Jazz in the Park is back!

Jazz in the Park will return in 2024 on Saturday 16 March from 2:00pm-6:00pm as Balmain comes alive with the sounds of Jazz! A must-see event sure to please jazz lovers and lovers of fine music in general, purchase a hamper from a Darling St business to enjoy a picnic and bring the family to experience an afternoon in the park with the best of Inner West Jazz. Featuring an outstanding line-up of award-winning musicians, be prepared to be moved and inspired by the breadth of local talent.

We will be going ahead rain or shine, so bring your party spirit down to Gladstone Park and support these outstanding local artists!

The Vampires

 

ARIA award-winning band The Vampires have gained critical attention worldwide for their distinctive sound yet have a style that is undoubtedly their own. They have garnered praise from Downbeat, “phenomenal”, the Guardian UK, “seductive genre hopping creativity”, and All About Jazz, “gold all over”, and appeared at premier festivals throughout the UK, Europe and their homeland Australia. The Vampires are the first instrumental act to be short-listed for the Australian Music Prize and is comprised of some of the most in-demand and awarded musicians of their generation.

With a recent history of collaborative performances, Chloe Kim, Hilary Geddes, and Jonathan Zwartz converge with an intimate camaraderie, reciprocal mentorship, and a sensitive musical rapport. This profound synergy empowers them to seamlessly traverse through their collaborative compositions, embarking on vibrant and exciting sonic explorations.

Suena Cubano

 

Suena Cubano is an Afro-Cuban Jazz ensemble led by Cuban multi-instrumentalist and composer Richard Ortega with Francisco Toledo: Vocals, Keyna Wilkins: Flute, Michael Brown: Saxophone, Loren Alain: Percussion, Marcelo Cafesur: Bass An intoxicating mix of Ortega's original works, infusing the African ritual drumming with latin jazz, and tunes direct from the streets of Havana.
