Freyja Garbett's 'Music from the Waves'

1:00pm

'Music from the Waves', is a multi-movement suite combining electro-acoustic sonic palettes to encapsulate and audiate the synthesis between Freyja Garbett's two great loves; music and surfing. The physical, mental and emotional link between musical improvisation and surfing are concepts that have long been pondered by musicians and lovers of waves. Many surfers have drawn a philosophical connection between these disciplines. This is the first step in Freyja's journey in creating music that encapsulates and audiates the synthesis between music and surfing. Each performance is fresh and invigorating. Please join them, as they “surf the changes”.

Coast

4:00pm

Drummer and composer for COAST Paul Derricott has spent the years sharing stages with The Beautiful Girls, All Our Exes Live in Texas, Georgia Mooney, and international artists Charenee Wade, Vivian Sessoms and Aloe Blacc – their influence being critical to the writing process. Moment by moment, the band successfully toy with new scales, weeping brass-sections and spacious guitars while tying it off with snap-jazz drum lines – resulting in a song that represents a tactful reimagining of Coast’s compositions. Coast brings to life some of Australia’s finest, most intricately textured progressive jazz.
